Frequently Asked Questions About Specialised Kinesiology
Q. Will Specialised Kinesiology cure me?
A. No-one can cure anyone else. If you break a bone, a doctor can set it, but he does not heal it – you do. If you cut your finger, we can put a plaster on it but your body heals the cut. Therefore a Specialised Kinesiologist does not “heal” or “treat” but works towards balancing the body's energy systems so that the innate wisdom of the body can heal itself.
Q. Do you give medication?
A. No. We do not diagnose nor prescribe and nor do we “take you off” your medication. Specialised Kinesiologists do not work according to the “medical model” of disease. We acknowledge the symptoms you present with and work towards solutions. Kinesiology is complementary to orthodox medicine and works with, not against it.
Q. Does Specialised Kinesiology come from the East?
A. Specialised Kinesiology developed from the workings of Dr. George Goodheart, an American chiropractor, in 1963. Since then, many different branches of Kinesiology have developed, all based on the scientific, neurological workings of the human body.
Q. Specialised Kinesiology will undermine my faith …..is that true?
A. Certainly not. Kinesiologists are not religious leaders – they are facilitators whose aim is to assist you in finding solutions to improve your well-being. We work within the realm of your belief system, and not our own.
Q. When I get better, how long will it last?
A. That is dependent on the individual. The one certainty in life is that of change! Whilst we are living, we are constantly presented with stressors, and how long we remain in balance depends on our genetic make-up and our ability to adapt to change appropriately. .
Q. How long is a session and what must I wear?
A. A balance takes approximately an hour and a quarter and is done fully clothed on a massage table. Wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement.
Q. Who can benefit?
A. Anybody & everybody. We have all experienced times when we were not in top form. This applies equally to physical, emotional and mental conditions. Specialised Kinesiology is an extremely gentle, non-invasive method of identifying what is going on, and why, and then applying appropriate techniques to restore balance and harmony. Once back on track, we can continue living a better quality of life.
